Respecting and protecting original authors’ copyright is of the highest priority for us. Equally important is to make available as much high quality content as we can, in foreign languages. We believe with open minds and a carefully designed system, these two goals can coexist.

First of all, ninety-nine percent of our translations are for contents publicly available on the Internet. We believe the number one goal for authors who produced those contents is to influence as many readers as possible with their works. Obviously, translation serves that purpose.
Secondly, translation might not bring traffic or cash flow to the original author directly. However, without translation, it is not possible for the original content to generate traffic or monetize in different languages either. Translation indeed opens up those opportunities.
Thirdly, related to the previous point, huiylc always displays original author’s name in a prominent position with the translation. And the translation always links back to the original URL in a microformat style (rel=’original’) anchor. Even if the visible traffic generated with this kind of linkage is limited, value for increasing search engine rank and other features made possible by using semantic links will benefit the original content.
In addition, during the translation and publishing process, huiylc encourages its translators to contact original authors before a translation is produced and published.
Finally, huiylc provides complete and accurate data for the original authors to review summary and detailed information about the translations for their works. The original authors always have the final calling to remove a translation from huiylc should they choose to do so.
